When you head to the gym and begin training, in the early stages you will probably have no idea of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, but as time goes on, you’ll pick up new things and learn the ropes along the way. Advanced workout programs also speed up the learning curve. If you’ve been training for a relatively long amount of time, think back to when you first started out. If you’re anything like us, you probably cringe at the thought and can’t believe you were ever so naive and inexperienced. When you’re looking to give yourself new challenges, or to achieve new goals, you will probably try following a new program. Before you begin any new program however, you should do your research as this will help give you an idea of how many calories this burns, how each exercise performed is able to benefit you, and show you exactly why you need to be doing the movements and exercises you are required to do. With experience, comes, ability and knowledge, and knowing when to change your training and step things up to the next level is absolutely vital. When You Hit a Plateau
When we start new routines, in the early stages it is great as we find ourselves lifting heavier weights, performing more reps and sets, and just generally smashing PBs (Personal Bests) all over the place. However, as time goes by, we begin noticing our gains slowing down and our bodies beginning to reach a natural plateau. In these instances, it is difficult to progress if we continue to do what we are doing. This is why we may wish to step things up a notch and go for one of the many advanced workout programs. If you reach a natural plateau, that is your body’s way of telling you that it can handle the routine and that you now need a new test.
You Find Your Workouts Too Easy
Even if you continue to make progress with your current routine, when you’re training with hypertrophy in mind, you shouldn’t be sailing through each workout, barely breaking a sweat. Instead you should be exhausted, mentally spent, and begging for it to be over. If your current program is far too easy, you should seriously consider following a more advanced program, to help shock your muscles into new growth.
You Aren’t Having Fun
Training in the gym should not be a chore, it should be an enjoyable experience that you look forward to every single day you train. If you aren’t having fun or enjoying your current training routine, you need to stop and ask yourself why that is. If we aren’t happy with something, rather than suffering in silence, we instead do all we can to change it. If your current 5 day routine is boring and tedious, why not switching things round and following a new program? Try testing yourself with an advanced program instead.
